Abstract:

In this paper, the artificial neural network based Multi-objective optimization of twist extrusion process is carried out. The target purpose functions are equivalent plastic strain, strain distribution and extrusion force. The design variables are twistangle, friction factor and loading rate. The FEM model of the process is first created and used to create training cases for the ANN, and the well-trained ANN is used as a quick and exact model of the process. Then the optimization of the design variables is conducted by an integrated genetic algorithm and ANN modelto create a set of optimal solutions (Pareto front). Leveldiagrams are then used to select the best solution from the Pareto front. Finally the response surface methodology has been used to study the interaction between the design parameters. The obtained results show that the best range of twist angle is from 0.7 to 45 degree, friction factor from 0.65 to 0.7 and loading rate from 6.5 to 7 mm/s. Also variables with the largest effect on the process are twist angle and friction factor.

Abstract:

At the time of natural disasters occurrence, prompt responding and providing required items to affected areas is the most urgent priority. Moreover, given a stochastic nature of the crisis severity and the number of the affected areas, effective planning is a crucial task. In this study, two major steps in the disaster management cycle, namely preparation and response phases, are formulated using a Multi-objective mathematical model under uncertainty. In the preparation phase, the optimum location of relief distributions, medical centers and inventories of relief goods to storage items received from suppliers are determined. Also, in the second step or response phase, the amount of relief goods transported from supply points to relief distribution centers and from these centers to affected areas as well as the number of injured people transferred to medical centers and hospitals through ambulances and aerial transportationare determined. Moreover, regarding the problem nature, its key parameters (e. g., demand and the number of injured people) are considered to be uncertain. Furthermore, given that the failureof facilities in both supplier and distributor sections can adverselyaffect their service provision, this issueisconsidered in the model. To efficiently solve the model, the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) and the Multi-objective grey wolf optimizer (MOGWO) areused. Comparison of the results obtained from the proposed meta-heuristics with the exact solution method indicates that these algorithms can provide acceptable solutions in a reasonable amount of computational time.

Abstract:

Background and Aim: In patients with complete denture, some clinicians have used modelling plastic impression compound (MPIC) along tissue conditioner (TC) materials simultaneously. Little information is available on the composition of these materials and the interaction between them. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of two components of MPIC on the structure and chemical composition of TC.Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, MPIC specimens were provided in 25×2 mm discs. Specimens were randomly divided into three groups and were immersed in ethanol 70%, plasticizer (dibutyl phthalate) and a mixture of them (ethanol 70% and dibutyl phthalate). All of the discs were weighed with a digital balance before and 2, 4, 6 and 24 hours after immersion. Values were analyzed by non parametric Kruskal-Wallis (a= 0.05) and SPSS 16 for Windows (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL) was used for statistical analysis. Results: Statistical analysis indicated significant differences among all groups (p>.05).Conclusion: Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) had high impact on the solubility of MP, while the mixture of dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and ethanol demonstrated the highest impact.

Abstract:

The sewer layout in flat areas significantly influences the construction and operational costs as well as reliability of the network performance. To find an optimum design of sewer networks for flat areas, this study presents a Multi-objective optimization problem with the objective functions of 1- the cost and 2- the reliability. The reliability criterion is defined as the effect of a clogging in a sewer on its upstream population. To solve the problem, the NSGA-II Algorithm is coupled to two self-adaptive design algorithms for generating the layout and sizing of sewers. A case study is solved using the proposed model to demonstrate its application and advantages.

Abstract:

Background and Aim: There are different methods of oral health education for child population. Theater show is a method that has not received enough attention until now. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of using theater show on dental health education in Yazd female elementary students.Materials and Methods: This was a quasi experimental study performed by using pre- and post-test method in Iran over the year 2004. One elementary school from each region of the city was selected. Twenty students from each grade of each school were included in the study (n=200). The information on knowledge, attitudes and practice of oral health were collected by using a valid and reliable questionnaire before and after theater show performance. Data were analyzed using SPSS and Wilcoxon signed rank test. Results: This study showed that the theater show could improve knowledge, attitude and proper oral health practice of children. The effect of the theater show on knowledge was more than attitude and was more on attitude than practice (P<0.001). Only literacy on the part of mothers was significantly correlated with practice (P=0.021). There were significant correlations between Knowledge (P=0.020), Attitude (P=0.0001) and oral health Practice (P=0.022) with students' grade level. Conclusion: This study showed that using theater show for oral health education, could improve the oral health related knowledge, attitude and proper oral health practice by elementary school students.

Abstract:

A multiobjective security game problem with fuzzy payoffs is studied in this paper. The problem is formulated as a bilevel programming problem with fuzzy coefficients. Using the idea of nearest interval approximation of fuzzy numbers, the problem is transformed into a bilevel programming problem with interval coefficients. The Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions is applied then to reduce the problem to an interval multiobjective single-level problem. It is shown that the solutions of this problem are obtained by solving a single-objective programming problem. Validity and applicability of the method are illustrated by a practical example.

Abstract:

THIS PAPER SUGGESTS AN ITERATIVE CONVERGENT METHOD FOR FINDING A DISCRETE APPROXIMATION TO THE NONDOMINATED SET OF A MULTI OBJECTIVE LINEAR FRACTIONAL PROGRAMMING PROBLEM. THE METHOD IS ORGANIZED SO THAT THE RESULTING APPROXIMATION SET HAS ACCEPTABLE QUALITY MEASURES. THE RESULTING SET IS AN E -APPROXIMATION TO THE NONDOMINATED SET WHERE E IS A TOLERANCE VECTOR. ALSO, IT DOES NOT GENERATE REDUNDANT INFORMATION.

Abstract:

Generally, an engineering design problem has multiple objective functions. Some of these problems can be formulated as multiobjective geometric programming models. On the other hand, often in the real world, coefficients of the objective functions are not known precisely. Coefficients may be interpreted as fuzzy numbers, which lead to a multiobjective geometric programming with fuzzy parameters. In this paper, we solve the multiobjective geometric programming problem with fuzzy parameters by applying a linear ranking function. The linear ranking function is used to compare fuzzy numbers. Finally, a numerical example is given.
